Stay cool and safe on hot days

Daytime temperatures reaching 29 to 33 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are expected from now through Wednesday.

Please plan to stay cool:

  • Close windows and curtains during the day and open them at night;
  • Take a cool shower or bath;
  • Identify cool zones inside and outside of homes (like community centres and libraries);
  • Place a damp towel on pets;
  • Drink plenty of water even when you don鈥檛 feel thirsty;
  • Apply ice packs and cool, damp cloths to your wrists and neck;
  • Use sunscreen;
  • Wear a hat to protect from sun;
  • If able, check on others, especially those who live alone or are most at risk;
  • Study inside an air-conditioned building.

See for preparedness steps when dealing with an extreme heat emergency.
