John Dedrick joins Chargers women鈥檚 basketball as bench boss

少妇免费直播 Athletics is pleased to announce that John Dedrick will be joining the Chargers as head coach of the women鈥檚 basketball team starting for the 2024-25 season.

John brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and an incredible resume having coached women鈥檚 basketball at the University of Alberta Augustana in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and with the University of Alberta Pandas and the Grant MacEwan Griffins in USport. He was also the girl鈥檚 technical director with GOOD Hoops Basketball, a teacher and coach at the high school level, and is currently head of basketball at Shawnigan Lake School.

鈥淚 am excited to welcome John as the new head coach of the Chargers women鈥檚 basketball program. John鈥檚 work at the CCAA and USport levels lend to a heightened caliber of professionalism and experience that is not easily matched,鈥 said Scot Cuachon, Manager, Athletics and Student Life. 鈥淗e is a teacher and educator first, and approaches the coaching practice in a comprehensive, holistic, and student-athlete centred fashion.鈥

I look forward to creating and building upon a culture with the Chargers that attracts outstanding female student-athletes,鈥 said Dedrick. 鈥淗aving a sense of family, with a coaching staff who cares, and athletes who play for more than just themselves, has been a huge ingredient of all teams that I've been a part of and inevitably leads to success. I look forward to meeting, interacting with, and simply being a resource for local high school programs."

Camosun currently fields teams in basketball and volleyball. Since joining the CCAA and Pacific West Athletic Association (PACWEST) conferences in 1994, the Chargers have competed in over 100 national and provincial championships with over 50 medal winning finishes. The Chargers basketball and volleyball programs are proud to welcome guests and visitors to their home in the聽聽(PISE) on Camosun's Interurban campus.聽
